Emerson House works closely with families, schools and other professionals to coordinate the best support program for your child.

Initial parent meeting and informal assessment

After an initial meeting with parents, Paula will conduct an informal assessment of the child's math and literacy skills to provide the basis for an open discussion about the educational support needed. We also work closely with Schools, Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and other specialists who can provide further details on the child’s learning. Prior to the informal assessment, any reports that parents provide from such specialists will have been read by Paula.

We use our own assessment in combination with other specialists’ reports to prepare a tailored program of teaching for each child. This may recommend joining our  morning or afternoon sessions for a period of time or, depending on the circumstances, setting up a program of tutorials with one of our teachers.
